ALCA’s second president, Rona Bartelstone, talks about the origins of the Aging Life Care Association, how it came about, and the New York Times article that started it all. She also discusses early governance, ALCA’s Code of Ethics, which was originally the “Pledge of Ethics” which states the ALCA members pledge to families their professionalism, objectivity, and loyalty to them. Rona also discusses unification in terms of education, peer-reviewed journals, and an appointed body to oversee these areas, which led to NACCM.
