NAPGCM enters a New Season as ALCA
Nearly 400 Aging Life Care Professionals™ will convene in Denver for the 31st Annual Conference – Entering a New Season of Clarity, Unity & Opportunity – April 29 – May 2, 2015.
As NAPGCM becomes ALCA, the association enters a new season with a new a new name and new brand that clearly defines and unites Aging Life Care Professionals together. This conference prepares attendees for the incredible opportunities that are ahead for the profession.
Pre-Conference Intensives
Pre-conference intensives Care Management 101 and Care Management 201 will be held April 29. These in-depth sessions offer attendees a closer look into the ethical and clinical practice of care management, as well as the sales and marketing of a business. Care Management 101 is for those just beginning their career in Aging Life Care and for individuals who may have just launched their own practice. Care Management 201 is a unique opportunity for those that have an established solo practice but who are looking for ways to grow their business.
Keynote & General Sessions
Below is a closer look at the keynote and general sessions at this year’s conference.
The Science of Happiness with Mark Holder, PhD: With humor and knowledge, he will outline recent research related to human flourishing, spirituality, and relationships. Learn how happiness is associated with improvements in your immune functioning, social relationships, sleep, longevity, tolerance, creativity and physical health. Share a laugh while learning scientifically proven methods to increase your happiness and the happiness of your friends and family.
Introducing Aging Life Care™ with Jane Cavalier, CEO of Brightmark Consulting: This session kicks of the launch of the new name and brand of the association and profession. Jane will go in-depth into how we will introduce the world to Aging Life Care. Jane will also hold smaller workshops with attendees how members of the association can use the new brand to benefit their profile and business.
Balancing Loss with Possibilities with Sara Honn Qualls, PhD, ABPP, Certified in Geropsychology: Finding the possibilities during times of loss requires interpersonal finesse and skill as well as knowledge of resources. Dr. Qualls will offer guidance on how to balance the focus of the care recipient, family, and professionals involved.
Alive Inside – How the Magic of Music Proves Therapeutic for Patients with Alzheimer’s & Dementia with Dan Cohen, MSW, Founding Executive Director of Music & Memory: Social worker and Music & Memory, Inc. founding Executive Dan Cohen will join us to share his experiences related to the Alive Inside: A Story of Music & Memory, documentary about the launching of his campaign to bring iPods and the therapeutic benefit of music to seniors. Cohen will also share more about his “Music & Memory,” project which he hopes to expand around the world.
Got Bounce? The Art of Resilience & Compassion with Jan W. Barton, MTS, MASM, CSA: Life can be shocking to say the very least! Instead of being shattered by the unexpected and the unwanted, we have the ability to choose a response to change. To meet the most daunting challenges of life, we gotta have bounce!
Connect & Engage
Attendees will also engage in break-out sessions on topics related to legal and ethical issues, clinical and client related matters, as well as the latest information for managing your business. Mid-conference events – Certified Member Roundtable and Xtreme Mentoring – give members an opportunity to workshop hard ethical and clinical questions together, as well as connect with the experienced Aging Life Care managers. In the exhibit hall, 30 different companies will be on hand with products and services designed for Aging Life Care Professionals and the clients they serve.
Annual conference also offers the invaluable opportunity to network with peers, connect with new and old friends, and the chance to enjoy beautiful downtown Denver. Morning walks/runs will be offered as well as Dine-Arounds at local restaurants. For those wishing for an elegant and refined experience, reservations are available for High Tea at the renowned Brown Palace Hotel on Friday afternoon.
